Groundbreaking for Residences at Chestnut affordable housing facility Yesterday PC Construction gathered with our partners – Lincoln Avenue Communities and Market Square Architects – along with a host of dignitaries to celebrate the construction of New Hampshire’s latest multi-family residential development. The new Residences at Chestnut facility, located in the Central Business District of Manchester, features two mid-rise buildings offering a total of 142 studio, one- and two-bedroom affordable housing units. Upon completion, the project will help meet the critical housing need in the greater Manchester area.

The modern housing complex includes amenities such as off-street parking, resident storage, a pet spa, shared workspaces, a community kitchen and gathering space, a rooftop deck and lounge, a fitness center as well as outdoor green space, walking paths, and an enclosed dog park.

To celebrate the start of construction, PC, Lincoln Avenue Communities and Market Square Architects, along with other investors, joined together to present Families in Transition of Manchester with a $10,000 donation to support their tireless efforts to deliver housing and services to people in need. This support, along with the new Residences at Chestnut facility, truly brings together a wholistic commitment to providing affordable housing to meet community need.Donation to Families in Transition at the groundbreaking for the Residences at Chestnut affordable housing facility

Football Field and StadiumPC Construction was recently recognized by the New England chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America with a 2017 Design-Build Award Honorable Mention for the University of New Hampshire Wildcat Stadium project. While the award has PC Construction’s name on it, the success of this project is really a result of so many people and firms coming together to achieve a common goal.

When the University of New Hampshire was ready to move forward with the construction of their state-of-the-art NCAA Division I stadium, they turned to design-build delivery to ensure all their project goals were met. Teaming with PC Construction, Lavallee Brensinger Architects and Populous, design commenced immediately with construction following in May 2015. An aggressive schedule was adopted to meet the university’s required late summer 2016 completion date to accommodate the football season’s opening game. The design-build delivery method, combined with the release of early work packages and innovative problem-solving, allowed the team to deliver on time.

There are so many reasons why this project was a success. Certainly, having the right team involved from the start was a critical factor. The team embraced a highly collaborative environment, working together to achieve UNH’s vision. In addition, having early involvement by PC Construction enhanced the design and constructability review process and allowed the team to discover conflicts between proposed design and actual constructible conditions. Time and money was saved through this collaboration and cemented the team’s synergy throughout the project.

And, of course, the top-notch design epitomized the grandeur UNH sought out to achieve for their Wildcat Athletics program. Take in one game at Wildcat Stadium and you’ll know exactly what we mean.

So, thank you to everyone who contributed to this incredible project. We are truly honored to have been your partner.

Construction is well underway on the Mill240 project in Lawrence, Massachusetts. The rehabilitated mill apartment community, which is situated along the banks of the Merrimack, will build upon the historic former Newark Paper Mill to offer upscale amenities and stunning views for tenants. Click here to check out the story behind the project and the progress of construction.

Designed by Market Square Architects, the project includes the renovation of two buildings. A seven-story 344,000-square-foot building will feature 198 one- and two-bedroom apartments, a 60,0000-square-foot self-storage facility and a 42,000-square-foot ground level parking garage to accommodate 100 vehicles. Community features will include a roof deck, cyber café, fitness center and yoga studio, community room and a riverfront park. An additional 29,000-square-foot single-story building will house 19 studio units.

The site has remained unoccupied for several decades, leaving it in severe disrepair and requiring extensive structural work. Despite the large amount of demolition required for the project, the large brick smoke stack – the largest in Lawrence – will remain intact and lend to the historical qualities of this project.

Once completed in December 2018, the Mill240 project will bring new life and increased economic opportunities to the Lawrence community. Stay tuned for updates as construction progresses on this exciting project.
